PTA Goes To Block 0.5 Millions SIM Cards

FBR directs PTA's and telecoms operators to block SIM cards of over 0.5 million peoples who did not filers


The FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) has issued an Income Tax General Order (ITGO) to exempt mobile phones SIM cards of more than 0.5 million people who are not includes in the list of active taxpayers.
But they need to file income tax return. Tax year 2023

The full list includes 506,671 names of individuals who are not on the active taxpayer list but are required to file a tax return for the 2023 tax year.

The general order issued by the FBR states that the mobile SIM cards belonging to the said persons shall remain blocked until restored by the FBR or the Commissioner of Revenue in charge of the person concerned.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) & all telecoms operators are required to ensure immediate compliance of these ITGO.


The order further stated that a compliance report in this regard is to be submitted to the FBR on May 15, 2024.

In a post on X, the FBR urged individuals to pay their tax obligations immediately and file correct returns for the tax year 2023 to enable resumption of mobile services as per ITGO. File an income tax return.
